Usain wins 200m to beat Gatlin

Usain Bolt won the rematch and 200m gold as he ran a wonderful bend to once again leave rival Justin Gatlin chasing silver and fresh air.

On a sweaty, sticky night in the Bird's Nest, Bolt was out quicker and opened an unassailable lead over the first 100m before coming away down the straight and jabbing his thumbs at his chest as he crossed the line.

His 19.55 seconds was the fastest in the world this year, his speed and peerless championship class too good for American Gatlin, whose 19.74 was well outside his season's best.

Jamaican Bolt, who will also compete in the 4x100m relay, added: "It means a lot to me.

"I'm happy to be a 10-time World Championships gold medallist, especially when people have been saying I would lose.

"I had the utmost confidence. As long as my coach is confident, I'm super confident.

"The British people give me a lot of love and I will continue running fast."

South Africa's Anaso Jobodwana set a national record of 19.87, with Panama's Alonso Edwards three thousands of a second behind in fourth.

Britain's talented 20-year-old Zharnel Hughes, who trains with Bolt in Jamaica, ran a personal best of 20.02 for fifth in his first major final.

But this was all about the man metres in front, his 10th world gold just another astonishing number in a career without parallel.

For much of this season Bolt, 29, has been a struggling shadow of the man who has dominated both sprinting and his sport for the past seven years.

Coming into these championships he had raced only one 200m all summer, and that a lacklustre 20.13 in May.

Gatlin, twice banned for doping, had run more than two tenths of a second faster than any other man in the field this year, and almost half a second quicker than Bolt.

Usain Bolt (left) and a camera operator collided during the sprinter's victory lap

Bolt had neither the times this summer nor the races, a pelvic injury restricting his season until just a month before these championships.

But in the stadium where he smashed Michael Johnson's long-standing world record in winning Olympic 200m gold seven years ago, he was out of the blocks quicker than Gatlin.

With the American two lanes inside him, he was able to relax down the straight and celebrate as Gatlin trailed behind him once again.

Gatlin went into Sunday's 100m final, part one of their showdown, as the dominant man in world sprinting.

But having cracked under the immense pressure of that first battle, he was once again unable to peak when he needed it most, and at 33 years old he may never have a better chance of beating his sport's superstar.

Hughes, born in the British Dependent Territory of Anguilla, formally gained British citizenship in June this year and won the national trials in some style.

And in his first major global championship he has improved throughout the rounds to confirm his potential for big finals ahead.

He will have no better exemplar than Bolt, unstoppable here once again

Addiction to social media crashes 10 years marriage

According to Vanguard, a businessman named Muyiwa Owolabi has dragged his wife, Tinuola, to an Ado Ekiti Customary Court to seek dissolution of their ten-year-old marriage over “serial adultery with several men” she met on social media.

Both the petitioner and the defendant agreed on the dissolution the marriage over irreconcilable differences but the court is yet to resolve  on the custody of their two children.

Muyiwa, the Petitioner, who told the court to dissolve the union claimed that he had caught his wife with several men including his junior at secondary school.
He said Tinuola uses the social media platforms like Facebook and WhatsApp to connect with many men who are now her “man friends and concubines.”

Muyiwa told the court that he had the printouts of the adulterous communications and pictures, including private ones where they recorded pictures of their private parts and other amorous messages.

The printouts of the alleged ‘compromising’ pictures on WhatsApp, and conversation with one Toyin Igbalajobi, her Lagos-based friend who allegedly connected her with men in Lagos and the NOKIA C3 with which he carried out the act were admitted by the court president, Mr. Joseph Ogunsemi and marked as exhibits.

Muyiwa told the court that he caught Tinuola with one Benson Onyechere, his junior at Christ’s School, Ado Ekiti who usually speak with her on phone but when he caught her, she replaced Benson’s name with a supposedly female name, ‘Bola’ to hide her lover’s identity.

Muyiwa also identified other men his wife had amorous relationships with on facebook especially one who effrontery of coming to their matrimonial home to visit Tinuola.

Femi Fani-Kayode advises Fashola on Tinubu

A former Minister of Aviation, Mr. Femi Fani-Kayode, has advised the immediate past Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, to go and make peace with his former boss, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

Fashola, who has been in the news for spending N78.3m of taxpayers’ money on a personal website, www.tundefashola.com, and for spending N139m on the drilling of two boreholes at the Lagos House, Ikeja, is believed to be at loggerheads with Tinubu.

Leaders of the All Progressives Congress who are loyal to Tinubu were also absent at a book launch held in honour of Fashola last week, fuelling speculations that all was not well between Tinubu and Fashola.

However, Fani-Kayode, who was the spokesperson for former President Goodluck Jonathan’s re-election campaign, said in a Facebook post that Fashola should go and beg Tinubu before things get messy.

He wrote, “Things are getting messier by the day. My advice to Tunde Fashola is to go and make peace with his benefactor, Bola Tinubu, before it is too late.”
Meanwhile, a group, Lagos Indigenes Network Organisation, has dissociated Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, from the scandal rocking his predecessor.

Some groups loyal to Fashola had fingered Ambode as the brains behind the revelations especially since the information detailing the contract which has generated widespread criticisms from concerned Nigerians was made available by the Lagos State Public Procurement Agency.

But LINO’s Executive Secretary, Fouad Ade-Basorun, said in a statement that since his inauguration on May 29, Ambode had busied himself with developmental projects in the state and had no time in trying to tarnish the image of his predecessor.
Punch reportage.

''Man of God' beats wife to a pulp

A certain man nick-named Prophet Emmanuel had been arrested by the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Response Team (DSVRT) and handed over to the police at Surulere Police Station for allegedly beating his wife to a state of coma, leaving her with a broken leg.

According to Daily Post, Emmanuel had a misunderstanding with his wife.

At the time of his arrest, the DSVRT officials disclosed that the prophet had reportedly chained his son within the church premises at Berger area of the Lagos metropolis, adding that he claimed to possess healing powers and also had 32 other church members who came for spiritual/mental healing and were also in chains.

Speaking on the incident, the DSVRT Coordinator, Mrs Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi, described the incident as ridiculous and unlawful.

Vivour-Adeniyi said the state government would not condone domestic violence and urged the victims of sexual and gender-based violence to speak out.

“The government is ready to fight all such cases and ensure that justice is done,” she said.

“The prophet who lives at Close Unity Estate, Imodium, Berger, Lagos, beat his wife, Funke, and broke her leg. He also beat his two sons and chained one of the sons while one of them ran away from the house. He claims to be a prophet with healing powers,” the Coordinator added.

“All incidents took place in his church. There were 32 people in chains whom he claimed were being treated for mental illness”, he added.

Vivour-Adeniyi said information was received through the Lagos State distress call service and noted that the team would ensure justice in the matter.

This is really sad!

The Incessant Cases of Cancer

According to the National Statistics in Nigeria, 40 female Nigerians die of breast cancer everyday while 26 male Nigerians die of prostate cancer everyday. This statistics is really alarming and scary. There are no clear cut causes of cancer but we should be very careful about our ways of life- diet, sexual life and so on.
Ladies should endeavour to undergo self breast examination every month after their menstrual flow to discover early any lump in their breast so that remedy can be done.
There are a lot of ways cancer can be managed which will be uploaded in my subsequent post.
What actually necessitated this post is the demise of a very close woman that just lost the battle to kidney cancer. May God bless her soul.
Feel free to make your inputs. Thanks.

Chelsea humiliated

Manchester City laid down a significant early marker in the Premier League title race with a commanding dismissal of champions Chelsea at Etihad Stadium.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho's turbulent week - shaped by the controversy surrounding the demotion of medical staff Eva Carneiro and Jon Fearn - ended in misery as he saw his side outclassed by a resurgent City.
Sergio Aguero had been thwarted three times by Chelsea keeper Asmir Begovic before giving City a deserved lead just after the half-hour, an advantage they never looked like losing.

City's superiority was emphasised with two more late goals as captain Vincent Kompany headed in David Silva's corner and midfielder Fernandinho sent a thunderous finish past Begovic, whose excellent performance was just about the only positive for Chelsea.
City manager Manuel Pellegrini was left frustrated last season as his lavishly talented squad failed to live up to their potential, but all the riches were on show in front of a record crowd of 54,331 at the newly extended Etihad as they demonstrated a desire to reclaim the title Chelsea took from them last season.
